I really don’t make french toast as often as I should. Every time I make it I say that I need to make it more. Maybe I can actually follow through this time and make french toast more often! It is such a good breakfast food, or dinner if you are weird like me and eat breakfast for dinner a lot of the time.
I was really happy with how this french toast turned out. It was really light and fluffy. I’m not sure if it was the bread or the amount of cooking time. Either way, I was definitely satisfied with it! What isn’t to love about a nice stack of cinnamon roll french toast when you wake up in the morning?
Earlier this week I received my shipment from Musclepharm. They really take care of me with the best protein powders out there. They have recently come out with a line of protein bars called combat bars. They are no doubt my new favorite protein bar.
I was lucky enough to have them send me their new cinnamon twist combat bar which is simply amazing. It was literally like eating a churro mixed with a cinnamon roll. I used their cinnamon bun combat protein powder in the egg mixture and then chopped up the cinnamon twist combat bar for a topping.
With the cream cheese icing on top, it was pretty much a cinnamon roll lovers dream. This really reminded me of the days my mom would make my brother, sister and I cinnamon rolls before school. I’m pretty sure I scarfed down at least four of them. This was awesome to crave that cinnamon roll craving.

Protein packed and healthy cinnamon roll french toast. Cinnamon french toast topped with cream cheese icing and chopped up cinnamon twist protein bar.
Ingredients
French Toast
- 2 slices whole wheat bread (I used high fiber)
- 1/2 scoop (17g) Musclepharm cinnamon bun combat protein powder (or vanilla)
- 1 large whole egg
- 1 large egg white
- 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (any milk will work)
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- stevia/sweetener to taste
- 1/2 cinnamon twist Musclepharm combat protein bar
Cream Cheese Icing
- 1/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp. (14g) reduced fat cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 tbsp. stevia or granulated erythritol
- 1 tbsp. unsweetened almond milk (any milk will work)
Instructions
- Preheat pan or griddle to medium/high heat. In a bowl (big enough to hold a large slice of bread) add whole egg, egg white, almond milk, cinnamon, stevia, and protein powder. Whisk together well to incorporate the cinnamon and protein powder.
- Soak each slice of bread in egg mixture for about a minute or two per side. Spray preheated pan with cooking spray. Cook each slice of french toast for about 3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- For cream cheese icing, mix together Greek yogurt, cream cheese, stevia and almond milk. Spread cream cheese icing over top of french toast.
- Slice 1/2 of a cinnamon twist combat protein bar into small squares. Top french toast with protein bar squares and enjoy.
