I have been craving cinnamon rolls lately. I think cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite breakfast dessert foods. You just can’t beat a warm cinnamon roll covered in a delicious cream cheese icing. I remember the days when my mom would make my brother, sister and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I would easily eat 4 of them. I love them that much!
I was deciding what to make, and I saw my cinnamon bun MusclePharm combat protein powder in the pantry. I think it is without a doubt my favorite protein powder. It has such an amazing flavor. It was absolutely perfect in this recipe for the cinnamon roll waffles.
The recipe made 3 medium sized waffles. I cooked them in my Belgian waffle maker, which I love. I previously had a regular waffle maker, but I think the thick Belgian waffles just cannot be beat.
These waffles would have been great on their own from the cinnamon bun protein, but I had to make them like a true cinnamon roll. I made a healthy cream cheese icing to put on them. It was super easy. All you need is reduced fat cream cheese, greek yogurt, and natural sweetener. I added some cinnamon roll Sweet Spreads coconut butter as well. These were cinnamon roll to the max.
I may just have to take it another step further in the future and come up with my own protein cinnamon roll recipe.
