Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie

February 15, 2018 by Spencer Miller

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie. Ok, I have been going crazy with bananas lately. I guess you could say I’ve been going bananas with bananas?! Ha, anyway, when you have a freezer full of ripe banana you gotta make use of them somehow. No better way to use them than with some creamy protein smoothies. This time I went for a delicious strawberry banana combo.

As you know, I’m a huge chocolate guy. I would probably eat a stick if it was dipped in chocolate. Seriously. So, I normally have been using my favorite chocolate whey and adding cocoa powder to make my smoothies extra chocolatey. However, this time I decided to change it up a bit and use vanilla.

I’m kind of a creature of habit, so this was a pretty big deal. Well, I have to say I was not disappointed at all. The sweet combination of ripe banana and strawberry was fantastic.

The frozen banana and strawberries not only gave it great sweetness, but it also helped make it thick and creamy. I also added some chia seeds and a little bit of nut butter (cashew, almond, peanut all work) to give it a little bit of extra healthy fat, fiber, and protein.

The great part about smoothies is that you can pretty much customize them in any way you want. You can use dairy milk, nut milk, or even just water (although milk tastes much better in my opinion). You can use frozen fruit or fresh fruit depending how thick and cold you like it. You can even add in all kinds of superfoods like chia, flax, nut butters, and so much more. Smoothies are about the quickest, most versatile recipe you can make.

Notes
*I like cashew milk because it’s nice and creamy. However, any preferred milk will work![br]**You don’t have to add the nut butter, however I feel that it lends a thicker, creamier smoothie! And, of course tastes delicious.
