Last night I realized that it has been quite a while since I have made donuts. That is a serious problem. I think I have gone through a little bit of a donut withdrawal. Itās ok though because I finally made some donuts again. These dark chocolate coconut protein donuts may have become my new favorite donut recipe. What isn’t to like about chocolate, coconut, and donuts?
Of course my hunger for donuts was escalated because I was really hungry after I got back home from my ride. I am sort of an impulse baker sometimes. When I am hungry for something I just start baking it. I canāt think of a better thing to have after a ride than donuts! Well chocolate milk is a pretty good thing to have too. I had chocolate milk and donuts. Yum!
The donuts are dark chocolate coconut flavored. I used MusclePharm chocolate milk combat protein powder, and dark cocoa powder to give them the deep dark chocolate taste. I also added some coconut extract to give the coconut flavor.
I made a coconut glaze for these donuts because you just canāt have a donut without glaze. Well I will pretty much eat any donut no matter what but you get what I mean. The glaze was really easy to make. I used Sweet Spreads vanilla cupcake coconut butter, Greek yogurt, almond milk and stevia. That is all you need to make a delicious coconut glaze.
To finish the donuts off, of course I had to add even more chocolate. I drizzled some Amber Lyn sugar free dark chocolate over the top of them. By the way, you can get 20% off your next order of Amber Lyn chocolates using the discount code “macrochef”. I got a little wild with the chocolate and it started going everywhere, so I just decided to go with it and drizzle chocolate everywhere! But they were delicious anyway!

Yummy recipe! I used almond flour instead of whole wheat and folded in unsweetened shredded coconut; it still turned out delicious even without the glaze! :)
