Ok, so here it is. I have had a ton of people asking me for the recipe. I pretty much eat this every single day. There are a lot of variations that you can do to make it however you want. The recipe I am posting is the standard, most common way I do it. So, here you go. Enjoy the SUPER THICK PROTEIN SMOOTHIE you see on my Instagram story nearly every day.
There are so many variations and flavors out combos you can do!
Also, note that I sometimes add banana. Sometimes I do just banana and no frozen berries. Sometimes I use vanilla protein, sometimes chocolate. I’ve even used chocolate peanut butter protein. You can pretty much do whatever you want.
But Spencer, how do you get it so thick?
The key to it being so thick has to do with a few things. First, add a lot of non-liquid volume such as frozen berries, spinach, frozen banana, and I have even added cauliflower. Next, the key to that super thick texture is using xantham gum. It’s a thickening agent and when you whip it up in the blender with the rest of the smoothie, it gets super thick!

PrintMacroChef’s Super Thick Protein Smoothie
Description
The infamous super thick protein smoothie that I pretty much eat every day. I’ve had a bunch of people request the recipes to here it is!
Ingredients
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or cashew milk)
1 scoop BPN vanilla/chocolate whey protein (use code “MACROCHEF” for 10% off all BPN Supps!)
1 cup frozen mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries)
1/2 large, ripe frozen banana
1 cup cauliflower florets (optional but adds a bunch of volume and thickness!)
1/2 cup frozen spinach
1/2 tbsp. xantham gum
1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. peanut flour
Instructions
Put everything in a powerful blender. Must be powerful because this smoothie gets super thick and will bog down a weaker blender. Blend until a thick, smooth consistency is formed. Enjoy!
Notes
You can change this to your own macros and flavor preferences. The keys to making it thick are lots of frozen fruit, a delicious whey/casein blend protein, cauliflower, and xantham gum for an amazing smoothie. And a powerful blender such as VitaMix!!
