Ok, so brownies are probably one of my all-time favorite desserts. They are right up there with bread pudding, which is hard to beat. Maybe I should make a brownie bread pudding some time? Sorry, I’m getting sidetracked. Back to brownies… I wanted brownies, but they aren’t exactly the best idea for breakfast, so I compromised and made this Brownie Batter Protein Oatmeal, which isn’t actually compromising much because it tastes that good!
For this recipe, it involves lots of chocolate flavor. In my opinion, you can never have too much chocolate flavor. The oats are flavored with Xtend Pro chocolate lava cake protein powder. I also added a little bit of extra cacao powder for that added rich chocolatey flavor, and of course antioxidants!
On top I added some chopped up Square Organics chocolate coated crunch protein bar. If you are interested in some Square bars, you can use my code “MACRO_CHEF” at their site for $5 off your order.
After the chocolate protein bar chunks, I added one more dimension of chocolate goodness to cap off this brownie batter protein oatmeal recipe. with my favorite dark chocolate chips. I go through almost a bag of these a week!
Next time I make this oatmeal, I may have to make my favorite protein brownie recipe and put some of them on top!
PrintBrownie Batter Protein Oatmeal
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 2 1x
Description
This brownie batter protein oatmeal is decadent, creamy, and filled with rich chocolate flavor, and then topped with chocolate protein bar chunks and dark chocolate chips.
Ingredients
Oatmeal
- 1 1/3 cup oats (quick or old fashioned)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk*
- 1 whole egg
- 2 scoops Xtend Pro chocolate lava cake protein powder
- 2 tbsp. cacao powder
- salt to taste
Toppings
- 1 Square Organics Protein Bar
- 1 tbsp. dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Add oats, milk, and water to a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, or until a they are to desired thickness. I cooked mine a bit longer because I like thicker oats.
- Once cooked, add a whole egg into the oats and whisk. Microwave again for 1 minute to cook the egg. It sounds weird, but it makes them creamier, adds protein, and makes them fluffier as well. It is optional, but delicious.
- After cooking, add protein powder, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir well until completely mixed into the oats.
- Divide the oats into two bowl. Chop protein bar into small squares. Top each bowl with protein bar squares and dark chocolate chips. Enjoy!
Notes
*I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but any milk will be fine.
